Domenic Menafra
Chances are you already know Domenic, even if you haven’t met him in person. Like so many of his fellow residents Dom and his wife Carmela purchased their 20th century era home in Northvale and have devoted their time and energy into making it suitable to raise a family in the 21st century. 16 years ago Dom was drawn to the appeal of the Northvale, a safe and affordable place to live with a true community feel.
Today he and his wife are proud to raise their two daughters here. If you have met Dom it has likely been at a local park or school gym where he has been significantly involved in coaching and managing multiple girls soccer teams, both at the recreation and club level. As a year round volunteer, he often organized and led extra training and pick up game sessions along with his fellow coaches to help players improve their skills, committing even more of his time than is typically required. Dom’s investment in the teams paid dividends as the 2012 girls club team realized flight championships in 2023 and 2024 as well as a runner up finish in the highest level of competition of a division wide cup. And whether it is coaching, home renovation, or just about anything else, Dom is always looking at ways to make things better and work collaboratively with others.
As a first term councilman over the last 3 years, Dom has also invested his time improving the Borough of Northvale. In his role as the liaison to the Northvale Fire Department, Dom worked tirelessly with the fire department line officers to assist them with a lengthy list of IT issues that had gone unresolved under previous administrations. Once again going above what was required, he volunteered his time and technology expertise to personally troubleshoot multiple issues and saved taxpayers hundreds if not thousands of dollars in consulting fees and unnecessary hardware purchases. Today the Northvale Fire Department has fully functional WiFi, telephone systems, and emergency vehicle tablets that provide critical call information to firefighters as a result.
