Our Council Elected

Joseph McGuire

Joseph McGuire has lived in Northvale for over 17 years and is proud to raise his family here. Improving Northvale’s quality of life while maintaining its hometown feeling is the motivation for Joe to run as a Republican candidate for town council.

Joe is no stranger to community service or elected positions. He served on the Northvale Board of Education for 7 years from 2011-2017 with 5 of those years serving as its President. During that time, he presided over major school security upgrades, technology advancements for students and staff, increases in student achievement and a shared services agreement with the Borough.

Joe has been very active in youth sports programs having served as a coach in Northvale recreation programs since 2006 and as Assistant Basketball Director for the past 6 years. He has also spent much of his time coaching in the St. Anthony’s Friars basketball program for 10 years and serving as its Director for several seasons. He has participated on several Northvale Town Day committees and actively worked on the Northvale Centennial Celebration committee in 2016.

Joe holds a Master of Arts Degree in Corporate & Organizational Communications from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from La Salle University in Philadelphia. He has worked for a major wireless telecommunications company as a sales executive for the past 15 years.

Joe has been married to his wife Sue for 22 years and his two sons, John and Robert, attend Northern Valley High School at Old Tappan. He is a member of St. Anthony’s Parish in Northvale as well as the Knights of Columbus Council #9021.

Peter Sotiropoulos

Peter is a 56 year resident of Northvale and currently is employed by Creative Design Construction where he runs the retail cabinet department of the company. He is a proud graduate of both the Northvale and Northern Valley Schools with a degree from Bergen Community College and a Bachelors degree in Business Management from Dominican College.

Peter has served honorably and effectively on the Northvale Council for 16 years, having been appointed to an unexpired term and then winning five elections with the highest historic votes in Northvale elections. His duties on the Council include liaison to the Police Department, Ambulance Corps and Public Safety and Municipal Court.

Peter has been a member of the Northvale Volunteer Ambulance Corps for 34 years; currently he is the Adviser and Past President of the Corps.

As a long term residential taxpayer, Peter is very concerned in maintaining modest taxes and budgets with no reduction in the vital services that our residents expect.

Those who have worked with Peter always valued his independent thinking and concerns for the residents of Northvale.

Republicans Need to Answer the Call

The 2018 Republican Primary will elect County Committee persons for the purpose of carrying our Republican values and message to our fellow Republicans, in our district and our circles.  This position is one of the most important elected positions, as it partakes in deciding the direction of our Republican party in Northvale and Bergen County.  As you probably are aware, we have lost far too many Republican positions in the State, County and our town.

The Republican party is receiving a bad rap for deviating from its core values of conservatism, limited government and personal responsiblity.  We can and must bring these values back to the forefront of the party.

We have to hold true to our beliefs and take action to regain our self governance.  For too long we have allowed our elected to run rough shod over us, raising our taxes, voting themselves raises, pension increases, increasing benefits and allowing their cronyism to tax us to death.  They seem to have forgotten that they “Work for Us”.

When will we awaken to these injustices?  I say now is the time!
